Buying a Car at Daystar Should Be Fast, Easy, and Honest

By Zac Crewson, General Sales Manager, Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram — Malvern, Ohio
Let's be honest: most people don't look forward to buying a car. Not because they don't want the vehicle, but because of everything that comes with it. The back-and-forth on price. The hours spent waiting in a finance office. The feeling that you're never quite getting the full story.
I've been in this business long enough to understand why people feel that way. And at Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, we've built our entire process around fixing it. Our goal is simple: make buying your next Jeep, Ram, Dodge, or Chrysler fast, easy, and completely transparent. Here's what that looks like.

Transparent Pricing, Right From the Start

The price you see is the price we talk about. No games, no surprise add-ons sprung on you at the last minute, and no wondering whether the person who walked in before you got a better deal.
We lay out the numbers clearly so you can make a decision with confidence. If you have a question about any line on a worksheet, ask us. We'll walk you through it, plainly and without pressure. Trust is earned, and it starts with being upfront about what you're paying and why.

Paperwork That Doesn't Eat Your Whole Day

We know your time matters. Nobody wants to spend an entire Saturday at a dealership, especially after you've already decided on the vehicle you want.
That's why we've streamlined our paperwork process from top to bottom. Much of the groundwork, like credit applications and trade-in details, can be handled ahead of time. By the time you're ready to finalize, the documents are prepared and waiting. Our team moves quickly without cutting corners, so you get every detail right and still get on the road fast.

Sign From Wherever You Are

Life is busy. Between work, kids, and everything else on your plate, carving out time to sit at a desk and sign documents isn't always realistic.
At Daystar, you have the option to sign remotely. Review your paperwork and sign from your kitchen table, your office, or your phone. You'll have the same clear explanations and the same access to our team for questions, just without the drive.

Free Home Delivery: Your New Vehicle Comes to You

Here's one of my favorite parts of what we offer: free home delivery. Once everything is finalized, we can bring your new vehicle right to your driveway.
Our team will walk you through the features, help pair your phone, and answer any questions on the spot. It's the same personal handoff you'd get on our lot, delivered on your schedule. Pair it with remote signing, and you can buy your next vehicle without ever leaving home.

Don't Just Take My Word for It

I can tell you all day that our process is better, but our customers say it best. Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram holds a 4.9-star rating on Google, and we're proud of every one of those reviews. That rating reflects real people, many of them our neighbors here in Malvern and across Carroll and Stark counties, who came in expecting the usual dealership experience and left pleasantly surprised.
We don't take that for granted. Every customer who trusts us with their next vehicle deserves the same fast, easy, transparent experience, and that's the standard my team and I hold ourselves to every day.

Ready When You Are

Whether you're eyeing a new Jeep Wrangler, a Ram 1500 for work, or a dependable family Chrysler, we'd love to help. Browse our inventory online, give us a call, or stop by the dealership in Malvern. And if stopping by doesn't fit your schedule, that's okay too. We'll come to you.
I look forward to meeting you.

More than just a dealership: Driven by Faith.

More Than a Name: The Meaning of Daystar and the Faith Behind Our Dealership

More Than a Name: The Meaning of Daystar and the Faith Behind Our Dealership By Matt and Wendy Leeders, Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram When you drive past our dealership in Malvern, Ohio, you see the name Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram proudly displayed on our building. To many people, Daystar is simply the name of a place to buy a new truck, find a reliable used vehicle, or have their car serviced. But to us, the name Daystar represents something much greater. It represents our faith, our purpose, our responsibility to others, and the values we believe should guide every decision we make. We didn't want to build just another car dealership. We wanted to build a business that stood for something. A place where employees felt valued, customers were treated with dignity, and success was measured by more than the number of vehicles sold. The name Daystar is a reminder of who we are called to be, not just what we do. What Does the Name Daystar Mean? The word Daystar has deep biblical significance. It is often associated with the morning star, a symbol of light, hope, and the beginning of a new day. In Revelation 22:16, Jesus says: "I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star." — Revelation 22:16 (KJV) In 2 Peter 1:19, Scripture also speaks of the day star arising in our hearts. For us, these biblical references represent something powerful. Just as the morning star announces the coming of daylight, our faith reminds us that light can overcome darkness, hope can replace uncertainty, and every new day presents an opportunity to make a positive difference. That is the spirit we want the Daystar name to reflect. We know that a car dealership may not be the first place someone expects to encounter Christian values. But we believe faith shouldn't be limited to Sunday mornings or the walls of a church. Faith should influence how we treat people, how we conduct business, how we respond to challenges, and how we serve our community. A Faith-Based Business Built on a Servant Mentality One of the most important principles we believe in is servant leadership. In Mark 10:45, Jesus teaches that even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve. That teaching challenges the traditional way many people think about leadership and business. In the automotive industry, it's easy to become focused on sales goals, profit margins, market share, and performance reports. Those things matter. A successful business must be financially responsible to continue supporting its employees, customers, and community. But we believe the greatest measure of success is how we treat the people who make that success possible. At Daystar, our philosophy is simple: We are here to serve first and sell second. That means approaching every customer interaction with a genuine desire to help. It means listening before speaking, understanding before recommending, and treating people fairly regardless of their circumstances. Not everyone who walks through our doors is in the same financial position. Some customers are purchasing their first vehicle. Others are working through credit challenges, recovering from difficult situations, or trying to find dependable transportation for their families. We believe every one of those individuals deserves respect, honesty, patience, and compassion. A person's value should never be determined by their credit score, income, or the vehicle they can afford. Our Employees Are People First A servant mentality must begin inside our own organization. We believe that if we want our employees to take exceptional care of our customers, we must first make a commitment to taking care of our employees. Our team members are more than salespeople, technicians, service advisors, office personnel, and managers. They are mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors. They have families to support, personal challenges to navigate, and dreams they are working toward. We want Daystar to be a workplace where people are treated with respect, encouraged to grow, and reminded that their work has meaning. That doesn't mean we don't have high expectations. We absolutely do. We believe hard work, accountability, discipline, and excellence are important. But we also believe leadership is about helping people succeed rather than simply demanding results. A true servant leader doesn't ask, "What can my employees do for me?" A servant leader asks, "What can I do to help my employees become the best versions of themselves?" When we lead with that mentality, we believe we create a healthier workplace, stronger relationships, and ultimately a better experience for everyone who trusts us with their business. Doing the Right Thing, Even When Nobody Is Watching The automotive industry has not always enjoyed the strongest reputation when it comes to consumer trust. We understand that. Buying a vehicle is one of the largest financial decisions many families make. Customers deserve clear communication, honest information, and the confidence that the people helping them have their best interests in mind. Our faith challenges us to hold ourselves to a higher standard. Proverbs 11:1 teaches that dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight. We believe that principle applies just as much to a modern automobile dealership as it did to business thousands of years ago. Whether we are appraising a trade-in, presenting financing options, recommending a service repair, or helping someone choose a vehicle, our goal should always be to operate with integrity. Sometimes doing the right thing means having a difficult conversation. Sometimes it means admitting a mistake, making something right, or advising a customer against a purchase that doesn't fit their needs. We won't pretend that we're perfect. We're human, and like every business, we will make mistakes. But our commitment is to be accountable, to learn, and to continually work toward doing what is right. Serving Malvern and the Communities Around Us We are proud to call Malvern, Ohio, home. One of the blessings of operating a dealership in a smaller community is that the people we serve are often the same people we see at school events, local restaurants, sporting events, churches, and neighborhood gatherings. Our customers aren't just transactions. They are our neighbors. We believe a dealership should contribute to the community that supports it. That means looking for opportunities to encourage local schools, support charitable organizations, recognize veterans, help families in need, and participate in events that bring people together. Not every act of service needs to be accompanied by a photograph, a press release, or a social media post. Sometimes the most meaningful things a business can do happen quietly, when someone needs a helping hand and there's nothing to gain in return. Matthew 5:16 reminds us to let our light shine before others so that our good works may glorify our Father in heaven. That is the kind of impact we hope Daystar can make throughout Malvern, Carroll County, Stark County, and the surrounding Northeast Ohio communities. Faith Is Our Foundation, Not a Requirement for Our Customers We also want to make something very clear. Although our business is guided by Christian principles, we are here to serve everyone. You do not have to share our faith, attend a particular church, or hold the same beliefs we do to feel welcome at Daystar. Our responsibility is not to judge the people who walk through our doors. Our responsibility is to love our neighbors, treat people fairly, and demonstrate our values through our actions. We believe the strongest expression of faith in business isn't necessarily what is written on the wall or printed in an advertisement. It's how a customer is treated when something goes wrong. It's how an employee is supported during a difficult season. It's how a manager responds when nobody is watching. And it's whether our actions consistently reflect the principles we claim to believe. We hope people recognize something different about Daystar because of the way they are treated, not simply because of the words we use. Every New Day Is an Opportunity to Make a Difference The beautiful thing about the name Daystar is that it also reminds us of new beginnings. Every sunrise is another opportunity to improve, to serve, to forgive, to encourage, and to make a positive impact on someone's life. Some days in the car business are exciting. Other days are difficult. There will always be challenges, changing markets, unexpected problems, and moments when things don't go according to plan. But our purpose shouldn't change with the circumstances. We want our employees to arrive each morning knowing they have an opportunity to make someone's day better. Maybe that's helping a family find a safe, affordable vehicle. Maybe it's a technician taking extra time to ensure a customer's car is repaired properly. Maybe it's a manager encouraging an employee who is struggling. Or maybe it's simply treating someone with kindness when they need it most. Those moments matter. And when those moments become part of a company's culture, we believe something special begins to happen. A dealership becomes more than a place of business. It becomes a place where people can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. The Daystar Promise: More Than Selling Cars At the end of the day, we understand that Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is a business. We sell vehicles, service automobiles, employ people, and work hard to remain successful. But we never want to lose sight of the bigger picture. We believe God has given us an opportunity to use this business as a platform for something greater than ourselves. We want to build a company where integrity matters, where people come before profits, where leaders serve their teams, and where our community is stronger because we are part of it. We know we won't always get everything right. But we can always strive to be better tomorrow than we were today. That is what the name Daystar means to us. It's a symbol of light, hope, faith, service, and new beginnings. And it is a daily reminder that our greatest responsibility isn't simply to sell more cars. It's to serve more people. Thank you for supporting our dealership, believing in our team, and allowing us to be part of this wonderful Northeast Ohio community. We look forward to continuing to earn your trust, one relationship and one act of service at a time. Buying Pre-Owned: Your Questions on Affordability and Interest Rates

Buying Pre-Owned: Your Questions on Affordability and Interest Rates

Buying Pre-Owned: Your Questions on Affordability and Interest Rates By Eliana Pisani, Salesperson, Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram · Oct 12, 2026 The most common question I hear on our lot isn't about horsepower or towing. It's "What will this actually cost me each month?" A pre-owned vehicle is one of the smartest ways to stretch your budget, but the price on the windshield is only half the story. Your interest rate, loan length and down payment decide what you really pay. I'm Eliana Pisani, a salesperson at Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Malvern. Here are straight answers to the questions my customers ask most about affordability and financing a used car this fall. How much car can I actually afford? Start with your total monthly cost, not the sticker price. A popular rule of thumb is to keep your car payment, insurance and fuel together at or under about 15–20% of your take-home pay. If you bring home $4,000 a month, that's roughly $600–$800 for everything. For reference, the average used-car payment nationally is about $542 a month on a loan of roughly 68 months, according to Experian's Q2 2026 data. Before you shop, add up these costs: Monthly payment – principal plus interest Insurance – get a quote on the exact model before you buy; a Ram 1500 and a Jeep Compass can price very differently Fuel – estimate your weekly miles against the vehicle's MPG Maintenance and tires – older, higher-mileage vehicles need more of both Taxes and fees – Ohio sales tax plus title and registration add to your out-the-door price When I sit down with customers, we work backward from the monthly number you're comfortable with. That keeps the conversation honest and keeps you out of a payment that pinches. What are used car interest rates right now? The national average used-car loan rate is 11.19% APR, per Experian's Q2 2026 report. That's down from 12.12% two years earlier, so borrowers today are in a slightly better spot than in 2024. Used-car rates usually run a few points higher than new-car rates, even for buyers with excellent credit. Lenders see a used vehicle as a bit more risk: it has less resale value left and a higher chance of repairs during the loan. Keep in mind that an "average" rate blends everyone together. The rate you're offered depends mostly on your credit, which is the next question. How does my credit score affect my rate? More than anything else. On the same $25,000 used vehicle, the gap between top-tier and lowest-tier credit is nearly $200 a month and about $12,000 in interest. Credit tier (score) Average used APR Payment on $25,000 / 60 mo Total interest Super prime (781–850) 6.29% $487 $4,202 Prime (661–780) 8.81% $517 $5,999 Near prime (601–660) 13.93% $581 $9,848 Subprime (501–600) 19.10% $650 $13,993 Deep subprime (300–500) 21.62% $685 $16,105 Rates are Experian Q2 2026 averages (VantageScore 4.0); payments are my own estimates before taxes and fees. If your credit isn't where you want it, don't let that stop you from coming in. A larger down payment, a co-signer or a shorter term can all help. And if you can wait a few months, paying down credit card balances is one of the fastest ways to lift your score. Should I get pre-approved, or finance through the dealership? Do both, and let them compete. A pre-approval from your bank or credit union gives you a real number to compare against. Then let the dealership's finance team submit your application to the lenders it works with and see if they can beat it. A few tips: Shop rates within about two weeks. Multiple auto-loan inquiries in a short window have a much smaller effect on your credit than inquiries spread out over months. Compare APR, not just the payment. A lower payment can hide a longer term or a higher rate. Bring your paperwork. Photo ID, recent pay stubs, proof of insurance and proof of residence (like a utility bill) speed things up. You're never obligated to take dealer financing. My job is to help you find the best deal, wherever the loan comes from. How does loan length change what I pay? A longer loan lowers your monthly payment but raises the total you pay. Stretching a $25,000 loan from 48 to 84 months cuts the payment by $220 but adds about $3,800 in interest. Loan term Monthly payment Total interest 48 months $620 $4,754 60 months $517 $5,999 72 months $448 $7,276 84 months $400 $8,585 Example uses a $25,000 loan at 8.81%, the prime-credit average. Longer terms often carry slightly higher rates too, which widens the gap. There's a second risk with long loans on used vehicles: you can owe more than the car is worth for years. If you can handle the payment, 60 months or less is usually the sweet spot. How much should I put down, and does my trade-in help? Aim for at least 10% down on a used vehicle; more is better. On a $25,000 vehicle at 8.81% over 60 months, putting $5,000 down drops the payment from $517 to $413 and saves about $1,200 in interest. A bigger down payment can also help you qualify for a better rate, because the lender takes on less risk. Your trade-in counts as down payment if it's worth more than you owe on it. Before you visit, check its value on Kelley Blue Book or J.D. Power and know your loan payoff amount. If you owe more than it's worth, we can talk through options, but rolling negative equity into a new loan raises your payment, so it's worth going in with eyes open. Is certified pre-owned worth it? Often, yes, especially if you're financing. Certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles are newer, lower-mileage units that pass a manufacturer inspection and come with extended warranty coverage. That lowers your risk of surprise repair bills during the loan. CPO vehicles can also qualify for financing through the manufacturer's own lending arm, which sometimes offers promotional rates below what a typical used-car loan would carry. A CPO vehicle may cost a bit more up front, so compare the total cost, rate and warranty side by side with a non-certified option. Ask me which CPO financing offers are running when you visit; they change throughout the year. What else can I do to lower my payment? Here's the quick checklist I give every customer before they shop: Check your credit score and report, and fix any errors. Set a total monthly budget that includes insurance and fuel. Get pre-approved with your bank or credit union. Know your trade-in's value and payoff amount. Save for the biggest down payment you comfortably can. Choose the shortest loan term your budget allows. Consider a slightly newer or certified vehicle, which can earn a better rate. Compare offers by APR and total cost, not just the monthly payment. And if rates drop or your credit improves after you buy, you can look into refinancing later. Let's find a payment that fits Buying pre-owned should feel exciting, not stressful. The more you understand about rates and terms, the more confident you'll be signing on the line. If you'd like help running the numbers on a specific Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or Ram, or any pre-owned vehicle on our lot, stop by and ask for me. Eliana Pisani, Salesperson Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram 7157 Alliance Rd NW, Malvern, OH 44644 · 330-863-1144 Rate figures are national averages and are for illustration only. Bad Credit? Here’s How to Secure Your Next Auto Loan at Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram

Bad Credit? Here’s How to Secure Your Next Auto Loan at Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram

Bad Credit? Here’s How to Secure Your Next Auto Loan at Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram By Dan Millat, General Manager Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram | Malvern, Ohio If you’ve been putting off buying your next vehicle because of less-than-perfect credit, you’re not alone. Life happens. Unexpected expenses, medical bills, a job change, or past financial challenges can affect your credit score. The good news is that having less-than-perfect credit doesn’t automatically mean you can’t get approved for an auto loan. At Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Malvern, Ohio, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to explore their vehicle financing options. Our goal is to help you understand the process, find a vehicle that fits your needs, and work toward financing that makes sense for your budget. As General Manager, I want customers to know that a challenging credit history doesn’t have to put the brakes on their next vehicle purchase. With the right preparation and a dealership team ready to help, you may have more options than you realize. Here are some practical steps you can take to improve your chances of securing your next auto loan. 1. Understand Where Your Credit Stands Before you begin shopping, take some time to review your credit history. Knowing where you stand can help you set realistic expectations and prepare for conversations with lenders. Your credit score is one factor lenders may consider when reviewing an auto loan application. They may also look at your income, employment history, existing monthly debts, down payment, and previous auto loan history. If your credit score is lower than you'd like, don't assume financing is out of reach. Different lenders have different approval criteria, and one lender's decision may differ from another's. Tip: Review your credit reports for errors or outdated information. Correcting inaccurate information may help your credit profile, although improvements aren't guaranteed to happen immediately. 2. Set a Realistic Monthly Budget One of the most important steps in buying a vehicle is determining what you can comfortably afford. Before visiting our dealership, consider your monthly income and expenses. Remember that the cost of owning a vehicle includes more than your loan payment. You'll also want to account for insurance, fuel, routine maintenance, registration, and unexpected repairs. When evaluating financing options, look beyond the monthly payment alone. Consider the total amount financed, the interest rate, the loan term, and the total cost of borrowing. At Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, we encourage customers to focus on finding a vehicle and financing arrangement that fits their financial situation—not simply the largest loan they might qualify for. 3. Consider Saving for a Down Payment A down payment can play an important role in your auto financing application. Putting money down reduces the amount you need to borrow and may improve your chances of qualifying for certain loan options. A larger down payment may also help reduce your monthly payment and the total interest you pay over the life of the loan. If saving a large amount isn't realistic right now, don't let that stop you from asking about your options. The down payment required, if any, will depend on factors such as lender requirements, the vehicle you're purchasing, and your overall credit and financial profile. Our team can help you explore the possibilities based on your individual circumstances. 4. Gather Your Financing Documents Before You Apply Being prepared can make the financing process easier and help you respond to lender requests more quickly. Depending on your situation and the lender's requirements, you may be asked to provide: A valid driver's license or other acceptable identification. Recent pay stubs or other proof of income. Employment information. Proof of residence, such as a recent utility bill. Information about your current debts and monthly obligations. Down payment information, if applicable. Contact information for references, if requested by the lender. If you're self-employed or receive income from sources other than traditional employment, ask what documentation may be accepted to verify your income. Having these documents ready can help you move through the process with fewer delays. 5. Work With a Dealership That Understands Your Situation Applying for an auto loan when your credit isn't perfect can feel intimidating. You might worry about being turned down or feel uncomfortable discussing past financial difficulties. At Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, we understand that every customer's situation is different. We encourage you to have an honest conversation with our team about your financing goals, budget, and concerns. Our dealership can help you explore available financing opportunities through participating lenders, subject to their requirements and approval decisions. While no dealership can guarantee approval for every customer, we can help you understand the process and determine what options may be available. You don't have to figure everything out before you walk through our doors. Asking questions is a great place to start. 6. Choose the Right Vehicle for Your Financial Situation When financing with less-than-perfect credit, the vehicle you choose can make a difference. A vehicle with a more affordable purchase price may reduce the amount you need to finance. Depending on lender requirements, the vehicle's age, mileage, and value may also affect the financing options available to you. At Daystar Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, we offer Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram vehicles to meet a variety of driving needs. Whether you're looking for a dependable daily driver, a family-friendly SUV, a capable truck, or something else, our team can help you explore vehicles that align with your budget and financing goals. The best vehicle isn't necessarily the most expensive one. It's the one that meets your needs while keeping your finances on track. 7. Consider a Co-Signer Only if It Makes Sense In some cases, a qualified co-signer may help an applicant qualify for financing or obtain different loan terms. However, this depends on the lender and the details of the application. A co-signer agrees to take legal responsibility for the debt if the borrower doesn't make the required payments. Missed payments can affect both individuals' credit histories, and the loan may affect the co-signer's ability to obtain other credit. If you consider this option, make sure everyone involved understands the financial commitment before moving forward. A co-signer isn't necessary or appropriate for every buyer. 8. Read the Loan Terms Carefully Before Signing Getting approved is an important milestone, but understanding your loan agreement is just as important. Before signing, make sure you understand: Interest rate (APR): The annual percentage rate reflects the cost of borrowing and can help you compare financing offers. Loan term: A longer term may lower the monthly payment but can increase the total interest paid. Total amount financed: Understand how much you're borrowing after any down payment and applicable credits. Monthly payment: Make sure the payment fits your budget alongside your other expenses. Additional charges and conditions: Review any fees, optional products, and other terms included in the agreement. Take your time, ask questions, and make sure you understand the agreement. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision that you're comfortable with. 9. Remember That Your Credit Journey Isn't Over An auto loan can be an opportunity to continue building positive financial habits, provided the payments fit comfortably within your budget. Making payments on time and managing your other debts responsibly may help support your credit over time. However, credit improvement isn't guaranteed, and the impact of an auto loan depends on your overall credit profile and how the account is reported. Before taking on a new loan, make sure you're confident you can manage the payments. Protecting your financial stability is just as important as getting behind the wheel of a new vehicle.
